This Week’s Torah Portion

Torah Portion “‘נח/Noach” which is “Noah” in English and means “rest/comforter” delivered on October 29, 2022.

This week’s portion covers Genesis/Beresheet 12:1-17:27 and begins, “And יהוה said to Abram, Go yourself out of your land, from your relative and from your father’s house, to a land which I show you..” This week we discover the gems of Lech Lecha and the life of Abraham – how he left his idolatrous home, family, and country to follow Hashem as well as the ways of Noah and Shem. Are we willing to leave the things “most important” to us and our understanding to follow Hashem? We need to come as Jeremiah says, the nations will come and say our fathers have inherited lies. Do we have the courage to follow those most hated, those looked down upon, those who have held the oracles of Elohim for millennia, the Jewish people? Come see why in Lech Lecha! The Haftorah for this portion comes from Isaiah 40:27–41:16.
